AkO IO - Album Release
AkO IO is an in-the-moment collection of ambient music between two Los Angeles-based creatives. Their sound comes together from simple sessions of synthesizer exploration, impromptu jams, and the world-link meditation of friendship. The release came at a new moon in late October and the project’s title is founded from the Filipino words “Ako” for “me” and the homonym “Iyo” between “yours” and “IO”, one of the moons of Jupiter. With tunes under names like Eos - Dawn, Callisto AM, or Evo Europa, each improvisation holds a unique characteristic to their chance recording with the exploration of alternating instruments of melodica, kalimba, classical guitar, vocal motions, and a polyphonic synthesizer. While a microphone was running on four separate sessions from 2020-2022, Melissa and Jamin’s expressions in their improvisations all together showcase the quaint playfulness, spirited travel, and harmony of their friendship.
